Peter Szental

Peter Szental is the founder and owner of the Szencorp Group, which focuses on energy efficiency solutions for buildings and green property developments. Peter has a technical background based on over 30 years’ experience in engineering and building projects in Australia and Asia, including joint ventures in Thailand, India and Malaysia. Through his company Energy Conservation Systems Peter has been at the forefront of Australian efforts to improve water and energy performance in buildings by using innovative technologies, measuring and reporting systems, and energy performance contracting.

Industry Involvement

Peter regularly uses his well-developed local, State and Federal government networks to encourage strong action to address climate change, and to highlight the needs of the energy efficiency and sustainable building industries. Peter has numerous industry roles. He was the Founding President and is now a Director of the Energy Efficiency Council. He is also Treasurer of the Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council and is a Director of the Australian Alliance to Save Energy. He was past President of the Business Council for Sustainable Energy and has also served as Deputy Chair of the Clean Energy Council. Peter is a member of various advisory committees for the Australian Building Codes Board, Standards Australia and the Asia-Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate (AP6). He is also on the Board of the Melbourne Football Club. Peter holds degrees in science, politics and philosophy and a Master’s degree in business.
