Peter Szental

Peter Szental is the founder and owner of Szencorp. Peter has a technical background based on over 20 years’ experience in electrical and electronic engineering and first hand experience in building projects in Asia, including joint ventures in Thailand, China and Malaysia.  Through his company Energy Conservation Systems , Peter has been at the forefront of Australian efforts to develop mechanisms that will assist in delivering better water and energy performance in buildings, including Energy Performance Contracting, built environment policy settings, and monitoring and verification systems. Peter holds degrees in science, politics and philosophy and a Masters degree in business.

Industry Involvement

Peter has numerous industry roles in the sustainable energy sector. He is Chair of the Australasian Energy Performance Contracting Alliance (AEPCA), and also serves as Treasurer of the Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council (ASBEC).  Peter is also a member of various advisory committees for the AGO Greenhouse Challenge Plus, Australian Building Codes Board, Standards Australia and the Asia-Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate (AP6).  Before its amalgamation into the Clean Energy Council, Peter was President of Australia’s Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE).
